Hey friend! {You probably guessed that I am going to write about friends today after reading the title ;-)} So, first off, what does the word "friend" mean to you? Who is your "friend" or "friends"? Do you have one, five, or thousands? Think. Ponder. Puzzle.
To me, a friend is someone who's always there for you, who constantly checks in with you, who defends you, and who never gives up on you. A friend is there to lift you, not drown you. Friends are there to fly with you--all the way to the steeple of your dreams.
A while ago, a friend of mine gave me a bracelet with a dainty charm that read:
"Friends are like angels who lift us to our feet when we forget how to fly."
A true, good friend should feel like an angel in a dark world. They should be your motivator in life--maybe even your wings. But how do you find this perfect friend--this angel of life? Well, you have to be a friend yourself.
One tip to start you off is always greet new people cheerily, introducing yourself the way you are and who you are. Show everyone a bright smile and complement them whenever possible. Once you acquaint yourself with them, a deeper relationship blooms. Then you start to inspire them, invite them, remember them, and weep with them. That's when you become that angel.
However, though sweet, settle friendships are nice to have, our deep, true relationships should be with moral people who can lift us up, more than we could ourselves. Marvin J. Ashton mentioned once, "A true friend is one who is willing to take us the way we are but is still able to leave us better than he found us." Friends should be able to fly with each other, like eagles who soar miraculously through the sky!
We each have a glorious mission, and together, with good friends, we can fulfill it! Just remember to choose the perfect ones, and like puzzle pieces, they'll fit together to make a beautiful masterpiece!
Luv ya all!
