I Lived!

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

This post is inspired by a beautiful lesson given to all the youth in my Sunday School class a month or so ago. It inspired me, so I hope it inspires you.

It's amazing how thought, just one thought, can save a life. Just one thought starts something as small as a choice, until it becomes a magnificent movement. An act is started by thought, then courage comes, and then power.

Just one thought was all it took to save the lives of the pioneers as they journeyed in turmoil across the plains. Just one thought was all it took to save the lives of those suffering in World War II. Just one thought is all it takes to save the lives of those TODAY. And just one thought is all it takes to save the lives of those TOMORROW.

One thought to live can save us. That thought gives us a "why". And after we achieve that "why" to live through the challenges, we receive strength and then power. All good things come from God, because He has all good power; all positive things come from God, because he has all positive power. God lets us live, after we let ourselves live.

"This is our one and only chance at mortal life—here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and then they are gone....Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family." -Thomas S. Monson

What is your "why"? What is that one thought--just one thought--that's going to save your life in the worst of your trials? With it, you'll be able to live to tell your miraculous tale of how you survived and how you lived. You'll be proud of your long, rocky journey and will use it to make you wise.

"I lived," you'll say. "All because I had a why. That why was God and because it was, He was there the whole time."

Then you'll look down at everything you accomplished and you'll be proud and thankful, both at the very same, beautiful time.

Sending hope in this challenging time,

Makenzie Monson
