Journal Entry: My COVID-19 Experience

Updated: Oct 12, 2021

Happy Sabbath! I wanted to update you today with a small journal entry that I wrote this morning. Hope it inspires you to PRESS FORWARD IN FAITH :-)

Covid-19 has been quite a journey for my family and I, and it is still continuing. It has been exciting and beautiful in so many ways, but challenging and chaotic in others. We have accomplished much, for example, I sewed 13 masks for my relatives, began horse riding with my grandma, started crochet lessons with my other grandma, started raising chickens (as a family), I founded a group/club with other homeschool girls around the USA, started my third journal, turned fourteen (and fifteen), got braces, and began seminary along with High School homeschool! Also, just before Covid, I received my Patriarchal Blessing, which has helped and guided me throughout this troubling time. I have missed weekly (in person) activities for Young Women, visitations to the temple, stake dances, and ability to sing in choirs and participate in various social activities (without having to social distance and mask up). Though there are those many things that I miss, I love continuing homeschool with my family, embracing the positivity in life, and continuing to learn many wonderful skills that will be needed in my future!

It is frustrating most of the time to imagine what life would be like if this virus had not occurred, but as we "face the future with faith", as Prophet Russell M. Nelson says, we will be blessed and will be able to see the blessings and good tidings in our present lives. Yes, these days are a brand new part in history, the last days, but we can press forward in Christ. There are so many people who look at the worst of this virus experience, but I know that with the Lord and His miraculous plan, we can be protected and that everything will be okay, even if nothing returns to its "normal" state. We must have faith and envelope ourselves in the gospel! This experience has strengthened MY faith and helped me to better follow my Savior. I know that as I continue to embrace this life of "change", I will be even more polished than before!

LOVE YOU ALL,

Makenzie Monson
